All throughout our learning of, getting to know and seeking the face of our Most High and Holy Creator God; we have been prompted and strongly advised and encouraged to dress for spiritual success…that is—for our soul’s salvation. Wisdom is to wear these new clothes often or rather always, than to let them hang around, hidden in lustful closets (…of the eyes, of the flesh or pride of life) to fester towards corruption. It is also wise to keep our spiritual garments washed in testimony via the Word of God——the Blood of the Lamb to avoid suppurating

“Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:21).

PUT ON CLOTHES of the ELECT

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…”

Today In the Word Quotes are based on our reading from Colossians 3:12-17 and Ephesians 6:10-18.  While there are many more clothing items of spiritual warfare  mentioned in Ephesians six, our focus today is on the the Clothes of the Elect of God.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).

ELECT versus SELECT

There is an importance with being elected compared to being selected. The significance is that those who watch over and bear record of our lives put it to a vote as to who of the many called, would be chosen, equipped to be able, willing and ready to do specific call(s) of duty in the Kingdom of God. This signifies [required] appointment and/or assignment in the alignment of God (the WORD). While others representing a select many (options), are merely called, the few who are chosen or set apart.are required/appointed to the standard appropriation of gifts and calling  of and via the will of God without repentance——meaning specifically adopted for God’s use; both here and now without contest, delegated for a later office in the kingdom of even a promised new heaven.

“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29)

It is of subjective opinion based upon study, this process of election or adoption began in the beginning (LOVE) and the ending will be (TEMPERANCE)

  • Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eats thereof thou shalt surely die.
  • Genesis 3:21-24 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Please see Genesis 1-3
  • John 1:11-14  He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth Please John 1
  • Abiding in the will of God teaches us self-discipline and allows the perfect work of patience——creating our final garment, the virtue of Temperance. “And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible” (1 Corinthians 9:25).

“And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man” (John 1:51)

Above All things Put on Charity (LOVE)

We should remember that knowledge is the garment, which does not come with age but rather from instruction. A substantial knowledge in and of the Word of God is an essential nourishment for the mind, body, and soul.

  • For the Mind…It keeps us walking towards spiritual liberty into our soul’s salvation where unknown peace resides.
  • For the body…It cleanses us of impurities, toxins, and potential decay /
  • For the soul it frees us from the sting of death and ushers us in to eternal life.

◊♦ Colossians 3:12-17 ♦◊

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
